Controller pairing

A controller is connected to FLAARE with a one-time pairing code generated in the system.

Step by step

  1. Generate a code on the drone card - the format is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, shown once.
  2. Power on the drone and connect it to the controller.
  3. On the controller, in DJI Pilot 2, choose Cloud Service → Open Platforms and enter the address shown next to the pairing code.
  4. Enter the code and confirm “Pair device”.
  5. Done - telemetry flows to the operations map automatically.

The code is single-use: once paired, it cannot be used again, and the controller is assigned to the organisation.

If the drone was powered off during pairing, nothing is lost: the pairing page waits for the serial number for up to 10 minutes and reports it by itself once the drone is on. If the page asks you to tap “Connect to cloud” again, just do so.

Worth knowing

  • “New code” on the drone card revokes the access of the previously paired controller - use it when changing hardware or when a code may have leaked.
  • After a drone is retired from the fleet, the controller needs pairing again with a new code; use the “Unpair” option on the controller first.
  • One drone serial number can be paired in only one organisation at a time - when a drone is sold, the previous organisation retires it from its fleet first.

The “Pairing blocked” badge

When the same serial number is already paired in another organisation, the controller will not connect to the system and the drone card shows a red “Pairing blocked” badge with the message: “A drone with this serial number is paired in another organisation. Please contact flaare.pl.” The message deliberately does not reveal which organisation it is - one organisation learns nothing about another.

  • The previous organisation releases the number with “New code”, “Retire from fleet” or by deleting the drone. When it is unclear who is blocking the number, contacting flaare.pl resolves the conflict.
  • Suspending a drone over the licence does not release the serial number - a suspended drone stays paired.
  • The badge disappears by itself after a successful pairing or after a new code is generated.
