Areas and POIs

On the operations map you draw operational areas and place POIs. This is the shared language of the incident: everyone looks at the same boundaries and the same points.

Shapes and description

Available: a pinpoint, an area (polygon), a circle and a rectangle. A circle and a rectangle are placed with two clicks; while drawing a polygon, “Undo point” removes the last vertex. Every element has a name, a note and one of six colours matched to the DJI palette - so it looks the same on the controller as in the system. Name labels appear on the map as you zoom in.

Each element shows its author: the operator, a pilot (with the drone’s name) or the KOL. An element belongs to the organisation’s active incident - see “Incidents”.

Editing

Clicking an element opens a card with actions:

  • Edit - name, colour, note; for a pinpoint also the coordinates. Coordinates can be typed as decimal degrees (52.229676, 21.012229), as degrees, minutes and seconds (52°13'46.8"N 21°00'44.0"E) or as degrees with decimal minutes - after saving, the map flies to the point.
  • Reshape (areas) - drag vertices, add a vertex with the handle in the middle of an edge, “Delete point”, “Undo”; the changes reach the system after “Save”. Areas drawn with the Circle tool cannot be reshaped, and areas from the KOL cannot be edited at all.
  • Move… - to another incident.
  • Show QR (pinpoint) - a QR code that, scanned with a phone, opens a map with a pin at that spot.
  • Delete - confirmed with a second, red button.

Every change reaches the other people in the organisation and the controllers immediately.

The Points tab in the panel next to the map lists pinpoints and areas sorted by name, in collapsible groups; clicking an item centres the map.

Elements from controllers

Points, areas and lines drawn in DJI Pilot 2 appear on the operations map and reach the organisation’s other controllers. An element placed with the rangefinder keeps the target’s height, so it stays visible in the camera view in DJI Pilot 2. Lines are not drawn in the application - their name, colour and note can be changed, or they can be deleted.

What they are for

Areas and points can be:

  • sent directly to the controllers of pilots in the field,
  • loaded into the mission planner as a search area,
  • used in a KOL session as operating areas for operators.
